No Kidding! HKDA Kids Design Thinking Awards 2020

“A person’s childhood is the root of an ever growing tree of knowledge and experience.” No Kidding! HKDA Kids Design Thinking Awards, which is organized by Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA) with Create Hong Kong (“CreateHK”) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as the lead sponsor, focuses on promoting Design Thinking among kids through a series of sharing sessions, seminars, workshops, Awards Ceremony and public exhibition to gather daily issues from family, lifestyle, community and sustainability into context and design. The awardees will have chances to work with professional designers, who will give advice on the winning entries, try to make their ideas come true.

Kid’s Design Thinking Awards Competition

Design Thinking is a people-oriented problem-solving methodology that seeks innovative solutions for various issues based on human needs. Why not take a chance to see what kids could do? Who said kids couldn’t do it! No Kidding! The HKDA Kid’s Design Thinking Awards 2020 will begin to collect submissions in mid-June 2020, and the Awards Ceremony will be held in September 2020. A total of 10 awards to be selected by the panel judges of international and local design and/or education professionals are: Gold Award, Silver Award, Bronze Award, the most popular No Kidding! Award and six “Jury Selections”.

Design Workshops & Seminars

Design Workshops

No Kidding! HKDA Kid’s Design Thinking Award 2020 works with different local design teams to provide 20 workshops of various types for Hong Kong primary students aged 6 to 12 and teachers in primary and secondary school, to promote design thinking and foster the creativity of kids.

There are six workshop themes:

  • Design to Play
  • Edible Design
  • STEAM | Tech
  • Material Exploration
  • Design to Wear
  • Spatial

Seminars

A series of seminars is held to encourage mutual learning among International Designers, Local Designers, Educators, etc. through the sharing of insights across design, community, innovation, social and education.
